DIOT PGM and SOCODA join forces to take over AUPINEL
On November 15, 2023, Arnaud Grimonpont, President of DIOT PGM – Paints and Decorations, and Pauline Mispoulet, President of GROUPE SOCODA, finalized the acquisition of all shares in AUPINEL, previously managed by Eric Pichavant.

This transaction marks the merger of AUPINEL with DIOT and PGM, three century-old family-run businesses, all born of inner-city drugstores, which have become perfectly complementary geographically, and driven by strong shared values. The acquisition consolidates the position of independent home furnishings distributors in the west of France, with a group representing sales of €30 million, 17 branches and 115 employees.
This transaction, carried out through SOCODA Investissement, Groupe SOCODA’s financing subsidiary, is in line with the group’s strategy of supporting the development and sustainability of its members in their plans for external growth or business transfers. SOCODA Investissement provides short-term financing and/or minority shareholdings on behalf of its members.

More information on AUPINEL by SOCODA: https://www.aupinel.fr/ + 1912: Augste AUPINEL, a painter, and his wife open the AUPINEL drugstore on rue Carnot in Villedieu-les-poêles (50800). Until the 1970s, two generations would succeed one another at the head of the store, before Daniel AUPINEL, Soizic’s father, entered the home decoration business.
With a first building constructed in 1970 in the “Les Vallées” industrial estate in Villedieu-les-poêles, the company expanded with its first sales teams and partnerships: in paint, AUPINEL became a distributor for the TRIMETAL brand in the Manche, Calvados, Orne, Ile-et-Vilaine and Morbihan regions. Added to this are flooring brands such as TARKETT and GRACO for tools.
1990s: AUPINEL opens new sales outlets in Rennes, Cherbourg and Vannes. Carpiquet, Tourlaville and Ploërmel follow.
AUPINEL today: Run for over 30 years by Soizic AUPINEL, Managing Director, and Eric PICHAVANT, Chairman and CEO, the small drugstore on Rue Carnot has become a major player in the decoration trade, with 6 showrooms in Brittany and Basse-Normandie, all delivered 3 times a week from the Villedieu-les-poêles head office. A wide selection of paints, floor and wall coverings, and tools are available for craftsmen and private customers.
