New integration option

Busch-free@home now interoperable with Matter

Busch-Jaeger enables the seamless integration of Busch-free@home products into other systems and the integration of Matter-enabled devices into the in-house smart home system.

With the integration of Matter into Busch-free@home, Busch-Jaeger is taking an important step towards increased connectivity in the smart home. Matter is a cross-industry standard that enables communication between smart home devices from different manufacturers. This expansion of Busch-free@home functionality allows customers to integrate Matter-certified products while also integrating Busch-Jaeger Smarter Home products into other systems.

Busch-Jaeger is part of the ABB Group, just like Matter pioneer Eve Systems since June. This new collaboration has accelerated Matter’s integration into Busch-free@home to meet increasing market demands. The demand for smart home technologies is constantly growing. According to a recent study by Statista, the number of smart home users in the European market will double in the next four years.

More options for electrical installers and end customers

Busch-free@home already offers various options for retrofitting, including Busch-free@home Wireless and Busch-flexTronics Wireless. The integration of the universal Matter standard opens up additional design options for electrical installers and customers to make living and living easier and more future-proof.

Busch-free@home is one of the first professional smart home systems to offer interoperability with the Matter protocol. It can be controlled using Alexa, Siri, Google, Samsung, and any other Matter-enabled app.

In addition, devices from Eve’s product portfolio can now be easily connected to Busch-free@home, thanks to Matter and the Thread wireless standard, which forms an important basis for Matter. This innovative technology allows customers to increase comfort, safety and energy efficiency in their own homes.

The free software update for the Matter extension will be available for all System Access Points 2.0 (these have been available since 2018), which are the heart of the Busch-free@home setup. This update will be released in the fourth quarter of 2023.

More information on the Matter Standard: https://csa-iot.org/all-solutions/matter/  + Matter, formerly Project Connected Home over IP, the industry–unifying standard is a promise of reliable, secure connectivity. It is a seal of approval that devices will work seamlessly together – today and tomorrow. Matter creates more connections between more objects, simplifies development for manufacturers, and increases compatibility for consumers.

The new open-source, unified connectivity protocol, Matter, will be applicable to many smart home and building solutions, including lighting, locks, speakers, HVAC controls, security systems, and routers. With Matter, instead of being limited to only those products that work with the smart system already in place, homes and businesses will now have the choice to integrate the new Matter certified devices that best fit their needs, regardless of brand.

Matter is built using IP and will deliver improved cyber security, native cloud connectivity and device interoperability to consumers, manufacturers, product designers and developers alike. Additionally, with standard definitions for device models, and lifecycle events such as provisioning/onboarding, removal, error recovery, and software update, developers can also be more confident in the consistency and quality of their users’ experiences across ecosystems.
