Expansion of the Logistics and Service Center

Stuttgart, November 26, 2024 – The next milestone in the expansion of LAPP’s logistics and service center in Ludwigsburg: After the groundbreaking ceremony in April, the cornerstone for the largest single investment in the history of the Stuttgart-based family-owned company has now officially been laid.

“We are right on schedule and committed to our investment program. We are on a path of internationalization but remain true to our roots. Here in Ludwigsburg, we are creating a logistics hub for all of Europe and beyond. A clear commitment to Germany and the greater Stuttgart area”, emphasized Matthias Lapp, CEO of Lapp Group.

Together with the Lord Mayor of Ludwigsburg, Dr. Matthias Knecht, and LAPP employees, he buried a time capsule in the future foundation. The capsule was filled with memorabilia such as various LAPP products and a construction drawing. Lord Mayor Dr. Matthias Knecht contributed a Ludwigsburg medal, which the city awards on the annual Volunteers Day.

For the Lord Mayor of Ludwigsburg, the construction project is an important signal for the Stuttgart region.

“LAPP and Ludwigsburg are a perfect match. Global market leader with economic center. Committed family business with a city of culture and sport. We are pleased that LAPP is standing by this million-euro project in our region even in turbulent times”, said Dr. Matthias Knecht.

Expansion Adds Value for Customers and Employees

LAPP is investing a high double-digit million sum in the expansion of the logistics and service center in Ludwigsburg. Construction is expected to be completed by 2026 and the expansion will be operational by 2027. In the future, LAPP wants to supply more than 50 percent of its global customers from Ludwigsburg.

“Ludwigsburg will be the hub of our logistics throughout Europe: highly efficient, highly automated, sustainable and with maximum availability for our customers”, says Matthias Lapp.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, the company placed a special focus on the employees at the logistics locations in Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg.

Family entrepreneur Lapp emphasizes: “When the expansion goes into operation, it will mean changes for our employees – new processes and tasks, but also a new and more modern working environment. As a family business, we are proactively and transparently accompanying these changes. That is why we have taken this milestone as an opportunity to involve our workforce in the construction process with an information event and also to collect ideas from our employees.”

In the future, LAPP wants to supply more than 50 percent of its global customers from Ludwigsburg.

LAPP currently employs over 1,400 people in the Stuttgart region, almost 200 of whom work in Ludwigsburg.
