Reka by Nexans – Cable peeling strip: what, why and how? We listed its five benefits!
Cable peeling strip is a thin and strong strip that is usually embedded in the cable sheath.
The peeling strip plays an important role when installing or maintaining the cable. The aim of the strip is to make opening the cable sheath easier and peeling faster, easier and safer.
How to use the peeling strip
Usually, the peeling strip is embedded in the cable sheath, which means that the outer sheath must be slightly peeled or cut to expose the strip.
When the end of the strip is visible, the strip is pulled through the sheath, which peels the sheath cleanly and safely. This reduces the risk of damaging both the installer’s hands and the wires inside the cable. This makes installation easier and safer.
Benefits of peeling strip
1. Easy and quick: The peeling strip makes peeling the cable much easier and faster; installers can easily and quickly open the cable sheath without special tools.
2. Safe: From a safety point of view, using the peeling strip has two important functions:
– Minimises the risk of damaging the wires or strands inside the cable. This is especially important for sensitive cables, as incorrect peeling can lead to malfunctions.
– Keeps the installer’s hands safe. The less you need to use a knife when working with cables, the lower the risk of injury.
3. Clean finish: The peeling strip is designed to cut the cable sheath precisely at the desired location, enabling a straight and clean cut in the sheath. This also makes the following tasks, such as fitting the connectors, easier.
4. Reducing the need for tools: The peeling strip reduces the need for special tools such as cable strippers. This can reduce both costs and tool wear.
5. Versatile: The peeling strip works in a variety of cables and environments, making it useful in a wide range of cabling projects.
