WEG – WEG Partners with Global Industry Leader in Wastewater Treatment

WEG

High-efficiency Motors for Sustainable Water Solutions

Ranked as one of the world’s largest brands in the segment, Aquaturbo has again relied on WEG motor technology for a food industry wastewater treatment plant.

In this project, WEG Portugal supplied 10 motors W22 IE3 90 kW 6 poles which will drive the aerators at the station. The entire design was tailor-made for the Original Equipment Manufacturer and the green paint (RAL 6018) was added at the request of the End-User, a symbol of the energy efficiency that will be achieved with the use of WEG motors.

The W22 line stands out for promoting a reduction in energy consumption, offering an optimal cost-benefit balance and consequently greater productivity and reduced costs for the industry. Each kilowatt-hour that is saved in a production activity can be used to produce other products and services, and each monetary unit saved on energy is an additional resource for investments in innovation, productivity gains and compliance with sustainability goals.

WEG Portugal has a long-lasting partnership with Aquaturbo through our WEG Benelux branch and this supply reinforces the customer’s confidence in WEG solutions.

EMR Additional Notes:

  • Motors, Generators and Drives:
    • A motor is the mechanical or electrical device that generates the rotational or linear force used to power a machine. A drive (also often referred to as an electric controller) is the electronic device that harnesses and controls the electrical energy sent to the motor.
    • An electric motor converts electricity into mechanical energy, providing a power source for machinery. A generator does the opposite of this, converting mechanical energy into electricity.
    • By positioning a drive between the electrical supply and the motor, power is fed into the drive, and the drive then controls and regulates the power that is fed into the motor. This allows control of speed, direction, acceleration, deceleration, torque and, in some applications, position of the motor shaft.

  • IIE1 / IE2 / IE3 / IE4 Motors:
    • IE stands for International Efficiency.
    • IE1 (Standard Efficiency) IE2 (High Efficiency) IE3 (Premium Efficiency) IE4 (Super Premium Efficiency)
    • From 1 July 2021 motors between 0.75 kW and 1000 kW will be required to meet a minimum efficiency class of IE3, the group of smaller motors from 0.12 kW to 0.75 kW minimum IE2. From 1 July 2023, motors between 75 kW and 200 kW will be required to meet the even higher efficiency class of IE4.
